Questions? We have the answers!
How do I get started?
Sign up for a free fitness consultation, register for a class on the Schedule page, or if you are worried about present or past injuries book a Detailed Fitness Evaluation with Dr. Blair.
How long does it take to see results?
Results take time, but if you’re consistent, they will come. If you are a beginner, results will come fairly quickly; even in only 30 days, you may start to see a difference in your strength and overall fitness.
How large are your classes?
Class size is limited to 3 or 4 participants so you'll get plenty of individualized attention. And, it's a non-overwhelming way to meet new friends!
What sets you apart from other gyms?
We are truly SMALL group fitness, with no more than 3-4 students in each training session. Our trainers know how to help you with your form and they understand movement modifications. You won't get lost in a crowd at Square One Fitness.
How often do you recommend coming to workout classes?
If you are a beginner, we recommend starting with 2 to 4 classes a week, with the goal of working up to 5 a week after your first few months. It may take a while for your body to get used to training at that intensity, so listen to your body and know you will need recovery time between training days.
Do you have gender neutral restrooms?
We sure do! We have one restroom with two stalls, and one restroom with a single stall and locking door. Both are gender neutral.
I'm kind of an introvert / out of shape / older - will I fit in?
We like to call ourselves the anti-gym. Our trainers and clients are super chill, and many of them are friendly introverts. We don't play loud music, and our fitness space is bathed in natural light and wood tones. Many of our clients are out of shape and returning to fitness for the first time in years. Our clients tend to be middle to later aged and are folks who appreciate the customized approach of our intelligent movement sessions. We encourage you to come in for a free fitness consult, or take a half priced trial class to see if you like our vibe!
Do I have to be fit to join?
No! No matter what your current fitness level is, we have the fitness program that is right for you. Every workout is designed to help you succeed, improve fitness, and move you toward your goals. Our program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience.
What qualifications do your trainers have?
The programming for our intelligent movement sessions was designed by Dr. Emily Blair, who is a certified DNS Exercise Trainer (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization as referenced in MD Peter Attia's book "Outlive"), Functional Movement Systems / Gray Cook, Titleist Performance Institute (Golf), Postural Restoration Institute, and is a CFSC (Certified Functional Strength Coach). Our trainers have a variety of certifications including CFSC, NASM, and DNS-ET. We all love to study quality movement and to help YOU work at a level that is challenging but not frustrating. What kind of exercises can I expect during a workout?
All classes have a 20-25 minute mobility and movement preparation warm up. From there Foundations of Fitness works on developmental patterns, Smart Strength works on building strength through a variety of movements, and Kettlebell 101 focuses on teaching safe and sustainable ways to move heavy objects.
This sounds amazing, but how much does it cost?
Yes, it is amazing! And, we feel we have found the perfect intersection of price and value. We are way less expensive (and more fun) than personal training. But we aren't a $15 class that you take with 30 other people. Our base rate per training session is $55 for Smart Strength and Kettlebell, max class size of 4 students, and $65 for Foundations of Fitness, max class size of 3 students. However, punchcards and monthly plans can bring those prices as low as $35 per session. That's a ridiculous value for all of the personalized attention in these intelligent movement sessions. There are no enrollment fees or contracts. Take a free tour, or sign up for a half price trial class on our Schedule page and see our value for yourself!
